What We Do

The Library Foundation of Spokane County raises, manages, and allocates funds to support and enhance the programs, services, materials, technology, and buildings of Spokane County Library District.

We advance our mission by seeking funding from generous private donors through advocacy and fundraising efforts.

Gifts to the Library Foundation do not fund basic library operations. Instead, we work with librarians to determine where private funding can expand and enhance the library’s work, helping the library offer services, programs, and technology that might not be possible otherwise.

The Importance of Supporting the Library

A strong public library is the cornerstone upon which a community can build for its future.

Libraries hold a unique place in the life of Spokane County. No other institution bridges the geographical, economic, and cultural differences among the people throughout the county. No other institution offers, without charge, the opportunity to access such a wide range of books and materials, educational and recreational resources, and special programs and services for children, adults, and seniors.

The library supports a wide spectrum of interests and needs including literacy, the arts, workforce training, recreation, as well as business and economic development. Our libraries have proven that tax dollars can create very good public institutions, and with your support, we can help our libraries and the people they serve continue to excel and thrive.
